Tribalia EcoDesign, winner of the Objects Design Award at the Puro Diseño Fair held in Buenos Aires in March 2006, is a design studio founded in Milan in 2003 by Mariano Maestri. His aim lies in creating sophisticated and contemporary interiors by combining natural raw materials and handmade manufacturing, while following minimalist design criteria.
Tribalia EcoDesign collection is distributed through a qualified sales and customer service network and is available in the most prestigious showrooms in Italy and Europe. In addition to the flooring in these collections, Tribalia EcoDesign offers the possibility to create tailor-made pieces for special residential or contract projects.
Philosophy
At the core of the Tribalia EcoDesign project are colours and shapes that combine to create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, with a sober harmonious style resulting in a subtle but pleasantly unexpected presence.
Design
While design and marketing are based in Milan (with production facilities in Patagonia), in 2006 Tribalia launched its production into new markets, mainly in Argentina, and it also tested new opportunities in Canada, the United States and Brazil.
2007 started with Tribalia’s first co-development with OSISU Design, a studio based in Bangkok, Thailand. The joint project consisted of a ‘low seat’ combining OSISU´s recycled teak with Tribalia´s organic textiles.
It was successfully exhibited at the Bangkok Interiors Design Fair at the beginning of March 2007, and again at the 2007 Buenos Aires Puro Diseño Fair.
Product Features
The leading manufacturing principle is uniformity of production with respect to size, palette colours and fine finish with as much accuracy as handmade processes allow.
The rugs and carpets are handwoven, from start to finish, on Patagonian looms. Raw materials include sheep and lama wool, as well as natural cotton.
Tribalia´s carpets spring from an 18-colour palette applied to five different weave combinations and wool thicknesses, which allows a wide range of designs: from simple flat weave carpets meant for high traffic areas and daily use, to relief carpets ideal for more private areas.
The standard sizes are: 140x200cm.; 140x250cm.; 170x240cm. Special orders are available to a maximum width of 2.00 mts, with unlimited length..
